It’s yesterday’s news now, but last week it looked like Mother Nature was going to ruin everyone’s life. I’ve never seen so many whinging Facebook status updates. I couldn’t care less about whether or not people got to go on holidays that I couldn’t afford, but I was still pretty worried about bands making it over here to play shows I’d been looking forward to for ages.

Thankfully, Caribou manned up and managed to make it all the way from Manitoba to Corsica Studios. As did Gold Panda, who had to make a daunting trip south from east London. What a hero. The ingenuity of the human spirit prevailed that night. And you can forget about that black sky thinking anyway. Caribou played so loud that if they were to have aimed the speakers towards the sky they would’ve blown out the stars, never mind some shitty dirty air.  Fuck you, Iceland. Fuck you, cosmic space ash. Fuck you, nature

Below are a selection of photos from that triumphant show, taken by Jess Gough and Hannah Davis. And they did well to get them too, since it was so squashed that at one point I thought I’d pushed so hard against the viking fella in front of me I’d accidentally penetrated him. Not my finest moment. Nor his I imagine.
