  • 2001: A Space Travesty

    The first time I watched this video I though it was a genuine school band performance (maybe done by “special” kids) and their music teacher had really dropped the ball. Maybe it was their final term at the school and they just didn’t give a shit anymore. But a bit of research helped me uncover that this stirring rendition of Strauss’s Also Sprach Zarathustra is not performed by misguided school kids but by the Portsmouth Sinfonia, an orchestra made up of either non-musicians or musicians struggling with instruments they didn’t know how to play. In conclusion, it is hilariously shit, but not for the reason you might first think.
