Fuck 2008. At least that’s what it says on Truman Peyote’s MySpace. I think I know where they’re coming from. It was a dismal year.

Looking at the Wikipedia page for 2008, all I can see listed is a timeline of doom, death, destruction and depression. And that’s not even considering personal tragedies, like divorces and deceased relatives. Now I know why I was in such a bad mood last year. Sorry, everyone.

But Truman Peyote aren’t living in the past. “New Wife, New Life” is both a cheerio to the bad times of 2000-and-HATE and a joyous embracing of 2000-and-NICE. Yes, a woman has done one of these boys wrong, but they’re not going to get all bitter and twisted about it.  Instead they’re celebrating moving on with choral chanting, sprightly afrobeat pop and the sound of children frolicking like free bloody birds. It’s better than a Facebook status update any day.
