Ramesses are one of my favourite metal bands, they live in Dorset and play the kind of psychedelic doom that could only come from having hung out with Julian Cope once or twice (which they have), been two thirds of Electric Wizard (which they have) and watched a lot of horror movies (which they have).
I wanted them to do a ‘day in the life’ type piece but they don’t own computers for me to email them stuff to, which is exactly what you’d hope really -I think I’d kill myself if people like Ramesses got a twitter account. Instead of that stuff, their kind manager wrangled them into giving me each of their top 5 favourite horror movies. So without further ado, here’s loads of trailers…

The Wicker Man – The ultimate tale of pagan horror! – the best story, the best script, the best acting and the best setting. low on gore but top of terror!
The Thing – John Carpenter and Enio Morricones’ music is enough to freeze your soul – by the time you hit the gore there is no escaping the horror that consumes you (and no way of improving on this grim remake).
From Beyond – Fantastic spectral Lovecraftian terror bursting out of your tv in ghastly other-worldly sick magenta lighting and great gore- also, it features the best eye sucking scene I can think of..
Living Dead at Manchester Morgue – “The Corpses, I tell you it’s the Corpses”…Amazing impending creeping terror in the form of great zombie attack just outside Manchester in early 70s… as this is a true story I find it hard to believe that more of a fuss was not made of this film!
Twins of Evil – It doesn’t feel right having my only Hammer entry at #5 (although Mr Lee is at #1 so I guess that takes the Curse of it). It’s so hard to choose fave Hammer – amazing balance of beauty and horror, but this could just as easily have been The Satanic Rites of Dracula or Plague of The Zombies or To The Devil a Daughter…
But what about Zombie, The Evil Dead, Halloween, Omen, Mutations, Tombs of the Blind Dead, Driller Killer, Dawn of the Dead, Re Animator, Cannibal Ferrox…thats more than 5 right?!….SAKE!!
