The Twilight Sad are from Scotland, but you don’t need me to tell you that. As soon as lead singer James Graham opens his mouth “you can just tell” (to paraphrase another alt. rock jock). And they’re surfing that same white noise wave that Scottish bands have been getting wet about ever since Chemikal Underground noisily introduced itself in the late 90s.

I’ve heard them described as a “Raymond Carver novel as soundtracked by My Bloody Valentine”. With lyrical themes centred on vice and burning children set against a wall of feedback, that’s probably as good a summary as anyone could imagine.

But boys, using a near 6 minute song with a title like this as the lead song from your second album (Forget The Night Ahead) isn’t going to get you anywhere near daytime radio playlists. But then again, having recently watched Mogwai headline the main stage at Field Day, maybe that doesn’t matter.
