Clothes by Venus in Furs

Irwin Barbé sent us over a photoshoot and accompanying film he made in Biarritz, South of France, using clothes designed by his buddy and emerging new talent, Luna Cedron. The pair are both only 17 and the idea behind ‘The Summer Wasting’ was to create an idealised vision of the long drawn-out months of the summer holidays ahead.

Luna, the creator of Venus In Furs label, just left home to live in Buenos Aires for a year and is inspired by astronomy, medieval knights and the English royal family. Irwin likes Impressionist paintings, his grandparents’ photo albums, Swedish love movies and (surprise!) underage party girls. Combine these two brains and you get something pretty great.

I reckon if this shoot took place in England it would consist of an awkward gathering in a park. Maybe some kind of post-GCSE ‘celebration’ where there is only one can of cider to share between 7 people and the group collectively look like they were dressed by H&M’s spastic sibling. But this is France, and the French do awkward adolescence with much more style and a better soundtrack. Viva la France, I guess.
