Apart from lots of prescription drugs, angry Mexicans, apocalyptic plumes of toxic fog and a whiny accent, something else that has come out of LA recently is Flying Lotus’s label Brainfeeder.

Fiction just released their debut single with a party at The Alibi in Dalston. We went down, watched them play a few songs, listened to their mates play some records, took some photos, that kind of thing. Nothing that remarkable there, except that Fiction are actually really good.

This week EvRock waxes lyrical about “the sound of the city in 1977″. That city was New York and that sound was Suicide’s self titled debut. It wasn’t the sound of Studio 54, it was the sound being heard at a 3rd floor loft in the bad part of town.

Acting as both a label and distro company, showcasing an ever diversifying roster and possessing the best name for a record label I’ve heard in an age, there’s a lot of reasons to like Italian Beach Babes.

‘Is it weird that want “Love Me Like A Reptile” as my wedding song? Fuck no.’ After a week away, EvRock returns with another classic album. This time it’s Motorhead’s gnarly classic, Ace of Spades.

Another few weeks gone by, another Jookbox up here. And usurping the general rule that sequels are never as good as the original, this selection of tracks is perhaps my favourite of the series.
