On Friday night, promoters Off Modern held a party in Mayfair’s abandoned Puss in Boots strip club, which was being squatted by some folks who dub their abode the VHS Video Basement. It was like a festival in the Eastern bloc with people bunked on the floor drinking strong liquor, unisex toilets and a general fear of the police. The Stasi did turn up eventually, about 30 of them with dogs, but more worrying for the organisers was the 100-strong mob trying to knock the doors down at 11pm. You’ll be pleased to know that we got home safe and sound, and with no outstanding warrants for our arrest.
