I went to the Obesity & Speed pop up last week at Earnest Sewn. Little JR and Bill Strobeck were djing punk songs and everyone was drinking and trying stuff on. Lyz even made a zine that went along with the clothes which is sure to become an underground collectors item. The Obesity & Speed line has tons of thin and ripped up t-shirts that are insanely sexy in a very Slits-esque way. It’s like black metal meets getting laid at a bar, and the whole vibe of the line reminds me of how it must of been for Betsey Johnson when she started her Paraphernelia line. Very tried and true and gung ho. I love the line, love the designers, and I’m throwing a shout out to the universe for these guys, hoping that in these troubled times, they make it big.
