A lot of great things come from Sweden; Ikea and Peter Bjorn & John are the ones I love the most though. Despite being relentlessly overplayed, Young Folks is still the perfect example of Swedish indie pop crossing over into the mainstream. Hopefully Sally Shapiro will be the next though. Everyone is banging on about so called “pop sensibilities” at the moment; I’m not excluded from lumping that phrase into any writing about a song with as little as a vaguely catchy chorus and some penetrating keyboard parts. But my god if it needs using once it needs using now, because Sally Shapiro is utter brilliance.
