As trendy young liberal types, you don’t need me to tell you how bad Iran’s international reputation is. Stoning women for adultery? (boo!!), crushing student rallies and murdering people protesting against your rigged government elections? (hiss!!).

But to their credit, the Iranian government has started trying to win over the liberal western media (us! – frankly, I’m flattered). Just last week they set up their own version of Heat magazine’s ‘circle of shame’ (or whichever magazine it is that does that cool, ironic kinda shit), they have called this ‘Cool Bible’, “The Journal of Iranian hairstyles approved by the ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance”. Sure, they still have a way to go in creating catchy magazine titles, but give them a chance…

Anyway, the journal names (AND SHAMES!!) terrible haircuts that they don’t want in Iran anymore. And who could blame them?! Mullets, excessive amounts of gel, spikes… All the worst haircuts in existence! I don’t know about you, but Iran has suddenly become a lot more attractive in my eyes after this. The sunny weather, the great fashion sense for women (black dresses are always ‘IN’!!)… Iran is definitely shooting up my ‘Hot or Not’ list.

Oh, and any of you who would also like to see this introduced to Britain: the best part is, the Iranian version actually has legally binding ramifications!  If you get caught offending against the hairstyles listed, you are totally X’d, and probably have to have your hair ripped from your head by an old man while you stand on hot coals and the whole village watches or something… So rustic!!  The more I read about this place, the more I think it is really going to be the next big thing on the gap year travel map for young liberals like us!
