Since how it’s Friday, and you’re on the internet (obvs), I imagine you might like to play a few little internet games to keep the hand-eye coordination on the level and stop your body gradually atrophying towards death. So ignore the crappy Flash games you find when you Google ‘free games’ and try some of my favourite time-killers (click the titles to play the games):
WORDS: CHRIS O’REAL

You know the concept of ‘Pong’ by now. It’s pretty much a simplified version of tennis and has been on the go for about 30 years. Well now it’s now gone full circle and someone (I guess at IBM) has turned pong into a shabby-looking tennis game. It gets insanely fast really quickly (if you’re good). Definitely worth persevering with it until you get into an intense rally. It gives you that feeling of fevered concentration immediately followed by excitement that you only find with internet games.

Haha, Sesame Street is jokes. Cookie Monster, Bert and Ernie, Big Bird – all classic characters. You have to shoot Gonzo from a cannon into a little bucket of water. Brilliant.

Probably one for the boys – this game is the single reason why I really struggled with A-level Economics. We used to always use laptops for some reason, and I would just sit and try to take the perfect free kick for entire lessons. I used to be great, but I can’t remember the tricks. The best bit is that this game bares no resemblance to either logic or real football. It’s like learning a new language.

The first level just reels you in and hooks you. It’s easy and only uses a few buttons. Play with your headphones on and youll really get even more into it. The second and third level cranks things up to a-whole-nother-level. Things are going fine just like before – earning points for no reason, jumping over falling trees… and then all of a sudden ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE and a storm surges behind you. Keeping ahead of it is so hard and so addictive that this alone reminded me why I spent my formative years doing nothing but playing my Playstation.

Without a doubt, the greatest single intenet game ever devised. It’s been going for years now and still plays as fresh as ever. It’s so realistic I feel like I’m THERE. The way the bike flexes, the way you lean forward and back on the bike to agonizingly try to hold on jumps and tricks… It’s got it all. As soon as it loads up and the guy shouts ‘Monday, Monday, Monday!!!’, I am in geek heaven.
