I’m trying to be a bit more diverse on here, I haven’t found out what the new buzzband from Brooklyn/Portland is in a while, instead I’ve been going back to the days I used to listen to the Hot Boyz on repeat (circa 1997) – so you’re gonna have to forgive me if this isn’t quite your niche, but WHATEVER, it is someone’s out there, someone who reads Platform, because Platform doens’t only cater to skinny/lanky boys/girls/both(?) who wear black creepers and blunt cuts, locking themselves in their room listening to the new Neon Indian EP. NO, Platform loves everyone, even that little paralyzed boy from Degrassi.
For anyone outside the UK, Degrassi is Skins before Skins. But it’s a more blah version as in, it’s a bit tame, and doesn’t go as hard (see: censored abortion episode, so scandalous ya’ll). Aubrey ‘Drake’ Graham, was – to all of us Degrassi fans – Jimmy Brooks. Long story short, Jimmy was Degrassi’s basketball prodigy, after bullying Rick, then not bullying Rick, then standing up for Rick, and being framed by Spinner, Rick shot Jimmy, and Jimmy was paralyzed for the remaining of the series.Since then, Jimmy Brooks’ ditched the wheelchair, and now hangs out with Lil’ Wayne, Eminem, Trey Songz and Jay-Z. He’s had massive hits under his belt even when unsigned, and was the subject of what Billboard’s dubbed the ‘biggest bidding war of the summer’.
I feel like I’ve told you his life story, but Drake’s been around way more than just three weeks, and I’m loving his transition from acting to music, specially if he’s going to make music as good as Play Ball!
