Today I woke up and it was awesome. Not only due to the fact I woke up (which always makes the day a little more special) but by the fact I was in my own bed AND on tour. Apache Beat were playing in our hometown New York for an east coast tour we were doing with Gossip. Being lazy I took my time to wake up and couldn’t really be bothered to photograph this precious moment. I guess just vision what Paris Hilton in her bedroom would be like, and then flip it to something cheap, dark and um… smart.

Somehow I figured out where it was without too much issue. It is in midtown on the west side, which if you live in Brooklyn (like me), it is way further than you generally can be bothered venturing to. I arrived to Terminal 5 just on time. This means I was late enough not to set up my own stuff but early enough that I DID actually sound check. The venue is massive. We played Koko earlier this year and it was on that level, except less Camden ye olde theater vibe.
After everything was appropriately tested, I just loitered about texting Nathan (Gossip) for his whereabouts and when I thought I had found him, he texted me asking me where I was. I decided to start showing people my AAA with his “all-America” face on it, to help source his exact location. It was annoying, but wasted enough time to not get bored (or drink too much) before stage time.
The show itself was great!
We played hard like people who play hard do and I didn’t hit anyone with my microphone or stand (this has happened in the past). It is the casualties of standing at the front of stage with a singer like me. I’m scary goth ice-skater looking girl yo. Feared out yet?
MEN and Gossip really ripped the stage. The audience went mad and I always love seeing Gossip play, especially as I’ve know them for years now and makes me happy they can sellout shows now to thousands of people. We all jumped on stage for Standing In The Way Of Control to act like proper dancing fools and then ran off again backstage to drink and party.
The party was really only blocks away but being in a huge limo kinda made everything exceptional slow, but as previously stated, we were happy enough to dance around in this limo. We arrived seemingly hours later to the party, and happily found it in full effect. At some point in the morning as I was leaving I realised I had left my coat in the limo. It was a sad few moments… so guys if you get in a random gypsy limo in New York and find a coat, it most likely will be mine.
