The word prolific was made for Chad VanGaalen. Not content with producing beautifully odd music and art under his own name he now brings us Black Mold, his electronic foray into the weird and experimental.
You’d probably call these pieces of music ’soundscapes’ rather than songs – if you want conventional pop music with words then go listen to his previous release Soft Airplane. But if anyone can get away with this level of experimentation and near dangerous lack of structure it’s Chad – an unassuming and reclusive artist whose output comes form the dark depths of his basement studio in Calgary.
